Tizen is a truly open source platform, supporting cross-category devices and delivering on the promise of being the “OS of Everything.” It has strong advantages, such as a lightweight footprint, high performance, multi-tasking / multi-user, flexible user experience / UI, enhanced security and a plug-in architecture.
Tizen project released platform v1.0 in 2012, v2.0 in 2013 and is aiming for v3.0 in the near future. It is also working to enable multiple profiles to support multiple device types. Profiles for mobile, wearable, and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) devices are available now, and profiles for TV, Camera and other devices will be produced by the end of 2014. There are already multiple Tizen products in the market and we are expecting additional wearable devices, TV, Home Appliances and IVI products in the market soon.
Tizen makes it possible to enable the larger ecosystem through supporting multiple categories of devices. Also, Tizen Store provides great benefits for developers with 100% revenue sharing for the first year.
