Sometimes there's no substitute for silicon.
We are pleased to announce that there is a new way to request Tizen development hardware. Beginning today, we are launching a program that will make it easier for qualified developers to find available development hardware running Tizen. The details of the program and the link to the request form can be found on the Development unit program page.
We hope to be able to offer hardware to developers on an ongoing basis, but for now, we have another batch of developer units, like the ones distributed at the Tizen Conference and the Tizen mini-summit at LinuxCon Japan. Please keep in mind that these units are only intended and useful for Tizen developers, since they do not contain all of the features that you would expect to see in a consumer device. In other words, don't plan on replacing your phone with it. These units are intended for developers who are building interesting applications for Tizen, so make sure that your request has plenty of information about your application development plans.
We have a limited supply, so we will only be able to offer a development unit to the top applicants. Applications are due by June 29 at 11:59 pm PST. We will provide additional notifications as more hardware is made available.
In addition, we also want to make it easier for hardware manufacturers to distribute development units to the community. If you have development or production hardware available and wish to distribute it through this program, please contact email@example.com, and we'll help you get started.
If you have questions about this program, please ask them on our Application-Dev mailing list.
