Tizen App Challenge is now open!

Hey app developers, have we got something for you! Tizen App Challenge is now open, which is your chance to get in on over $4M of prizes for the best apps submitted to Tizen Store.

Developers can submit their certified apps to Tizen App Challenge between now and November 1st, 2013. 

Eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges, with prizes ranging from $30,000 to $200,000.  In addition, HTML5 apps are eligible for a special $50,000 award.

Tizen Conference schedule

After a couple of weeks reviewing the 160+ sessions submitted to the program committee, we have finally come up with a first schedule for Tizen Developers Conference 2013. We have created a balanced scheduled, trying to fullfil the needs of the Application developer community, those investigating deploying Tizen on their devices, and the community of people currently developing Tizen.

Tizen 2.0 SDK and Source Code Release

We are pleased to announce that Tizen 2.0 source code and SDK are now available at https://developer.tizen.org/downloads/sdk. Tizen 2.0 represents a major milestone for software developers and device vendors. We encourage you to download the new SDK, and let us know what you think of it after you have installed and used it. If you have questions, or need to submit bugs, please visit our community page.

Tizen 2.0 Alpha SDK and Source Code release

Today, we are happy to announce that Tizen 2.0 alpha source code and SDK are now available. We encourage developers to start working with these new features and functionality and provide feedback that can be used to improve Tizen during the final stages of its development. You can visit the community page to learn more about participating in Tizen project.

Tizen 2.0 alpha has additional features, tools, and other improvements, including:

  • Enhanced Web framework that provides better HTML5/W3C API support and more Tizen Device APIs

    • Multi-process Webkit2-based Web Runtime which provides better security and reliability for Web applications
    • Advanced HTML5 features such as video subtitles and captions, battery status API, screen orientation API, <keygen> and <details>, and more
    • New Tizen Device APIs for file transfer, notifications, and power control
  • Advanced IDE & SDK for Web application development
    • Install manager support for snapshot-based network installation
    • Enhanced support for OpenGL ES
  • New Platform SDK that helps platform development based on OBS

We look forward to getting feedback and making additional enhancements to Tizen over the coming months. There are additional components that we plan to add in the coming weeks, and we will continue to fix bugs and add additional features.

We have also documented the complete development process which leverages state-of-the-art open source management and integration tools to accelerate development and high quality releases. We really encourage developers to participate in Tizen open source project.

Tizen developer hardware now available

Sometimes there's no substitute for silicon. We are pleased to announce that there is a new way to request Tizen development hardware. Beginning today, we are launching a program that will make it easier for qualified developers to find available development hardware running Tizen.
